High Intensity Discharge

High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps use high pressure gas arc tubes to create a very efficient light source. The quality of light varies between the different types of HID lamps and most are more suited to industrial applications and general area lighting. There are however, some new high performance ceramic metal halide lamps that are becoming more prevelant in demanding applications such as retail and hospitality.
