Effective October 1, 2012 all lighting products sold in British Columbia, including: lamps, ballasts and fixtures will be subject to a non-refundable eco fee at purchase.
The fees vary depending on the type of product purchased and range from $0.01 per light bulb to $3.50 for large light fixtures. These fees will be collected by your lighting distributor on behalf of Product Care. The fees are remitted to Product Care to cover the recycling costs of used lighting products.
Your lighting distributor does not make money off of the fees.
Effective October 1, 2012 you may return all used lighting products free of charge to authorized Product Care return depots for recycling.
